Drontal Allwormer Tablets for Cats protects your cat against intestinal worms including roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms.

Gentle and effective, Drontal Allwormer tablets are suitable for cats of all ages, whether they are young kittens or pregnant queens. They can be combined with other parasite protection products such as Advantage for Cats, Bravecto Spot On or Comfortis.

Treatment Programmes

• Kitten - Treat at 4, 6 , 8 and 1 2 weeks of age, then every 3 months or on veterinary advice
• Adult - Treat every 3 months. Flea tapeworm (Dipylidium) can reinfest cats and begin producing segments in faeces 2-3 weeks after treatment. If retreatment is needed before the next Drontal treatment is due, treat with Droncit as an intermediate tapeworm-only treatment
• Pregnant Queen - Treat just prior to mating, then 10 days before kittening and at 2 and 4 weeks after kittening. Drontal may be given to pregnant queens at any stage of pregnancy.

Dosage and Administration

Drontal is given as a single dose by mouth. The tablet is best administered as whole portions rather than crushed in feed since praziquantel gives it a bitter taste. Drontal may be given on empty stomach or with food. The dose rate is 1 tablet per 6 kg liveweight. Doses should be rounded up to the nearest 1/2 tablet

• 7.5 lbs (3 kg) and under  - 1/2 tablet
• 6.8lbs – 13.2lbs (3.1kg – 6 kg) – 1 tablets
• 13.4lbs – 19.8lbs (6.1 – 9 kg) - 1 ½ tablets
• 20lbs – 26.4lbs (9.1kg – 12 kg) – 2 tablets

What are the active constituents of Drontal chewables?

The active ingredients in the Drontal chewable include Praziquantel, Pyrantel (as Pyrantel embonate) and Febantel. The concentrations of each of these components varies in accordance with tablet size.

What sizes are available for dogs and what are the dose rates?

• Drontal worming puppy suspension - 1ml treats 2.2 lbs (1 kg).
• Drontal allwormer tablets for small dogs and puppies - 1 tablet treats 7.5 lbs (3 kg)
• Drontal allwormer for dogs - 1 tablet treats 22 lbs (10kg)
• Drontal allwormer for large dogs - 1 tablet treats 77lbs (35kg)

What worms does Drontal treat?

Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms and Tapeworms (Echinococcus granulosus ? Hydatid tapeworms), (Dipylidium caninum ? common flea tapeworm) (Taenia spp., Taenia ovis, T. pisiformis, T. hydatigena). Also aids in the control of shedding oocysts of the protozoan Giardia spp in dogs.

How often should I worm my dogs?

• Hookworms and Roundworms - Dogs and Puppies treat at 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks of age and then every month until six months of age, thereafter every 3 months or on veterinary advise.
• Whipworms - Treat every 6 to 8 weeks after 3 months of age.
• Tapeworms - treat every 3 months except in a hydatid tapeworm area where every 6 weeks is recommended, or on veterinary advise. Dogs can become re-infested with worms and treatment should be repeated.

Does Drontal treat Giardia?

Drontal is the only Allwormer registered to control Giardia sp in dogs. Giardia is a protozoan parasite found commonly in dogs and is frequently a cause of diarrhoea in puppies. Drontal should be administered at the correct dosage for body weight for 3 consecutive days. It is important that Giardia has been correctly diagnosed by a veterinarian.
